ABSTRACT: This investigation of 3D printing integration into fine arts education probes the technology’s effects on students’ artistic development. As digital technologies increasingly influence the fine arts, 3D printing emerges as a potentially valuable tool for enhancing creativity and technical skills. In this respect, 3D printing will be an emerging tool with great potential for enhancing creativity and technical skills among future fine artists. By studying undergraduate students of the fine arts over one school year, this study looks at how 3D printing influences creative output and technical proficiency. Results showed that 3D printing is bound to change how fine arts are learned, considering one could make complex designs that foster innovation. At the same time, however, technical glitches and steep learning curves with 3D modelling software demand focused training and resource management. As such, this study concludes that 3D printing holds immense potential; however, this technique needs to supplement and not replace more traditional artistic techniques with careful consideration of curriculum design and interdisciplinary collaboration.
