Thinking and Countermeasures on Integrating the Thought of a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind into Ideological and Political Theory Courses in Colleges and Universities

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to use the methods of literature research, combining theory and reality to analyze the thought of a community with a shared future for mankind, to see its demonstration of the values shared by Chinese and other cultures and by all humanity, and to China’s peace and development, world prosperity and progress of great and far-reaching significance. Based on the two concepts of ecological protection and mutual learning in a community with a shared future for mankind, we will consider the significance and countermeasures of integrating the thought of a community with a shared future for mankind into ideological and political theory courses in colleges and universities.

1. Introduction

Nowadays, countries in the world are closely connected, and the global problems facing mankind are unprecedented. General Secretary Xi’s thought deeply “building what kind of world, how to build the world” about a series of the major topic concerning the future of mankind, and put forward “We need to follow the trend of the times, stay true to humanity’s common values of peace, development, equity, justice, democracy and freedom, promote exchanges and mutual learning between civilizations, and work together to build a community with a shared future for mankind.” [1]. Thought of a community with a shared future for mankind is an important part of Xi’s Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a new era. It is of great significance to integrate it in ideological and political courses in colleges and universities to foster college students in the new era. The novelty of this paper is to think deeply about how to better integrate the thought of a community with a shared future for mankind into the ideological and political courses of colleges and universities, and put forward countermeasures and suggestions. There are few researchers in this field, and few published research papers, so it has a certain point of innovation. The significance of the research is to help us better understand the thought of a community with a shared future for mankind, find the convergence point between the community with a shared future for mankind as well as the ideological and political courses in colleges and universities, effectively promote the integration of the thought of a community with a shared future for mankind into the ideological and political courses in colleges and universities, and strengthen the ideological education of the thought of a community with a shared future for mankind for college students. The research structure of this paper mainly focuses on the ecological protection and mutual learning ideas contained in the thought of a community with a shared future for mankind, the significance of the thought of a community with a shared future for mankind into the ideological and political theory courses in colleges and universities, and the countermeasures of the thought of a community with a shared future for mankind into the ideological and political theory courses in colleges and universities. Study and discuss the above three aspects.

2. The Concept of Ecological Protection and Mutual Learning Contained in the Thought of a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind

The thought of a community with a shared future for mankind is a scientific and complete, well-rounded and far-reaching ideological system. The community with a shared future for mankind means lasting peace, universal security, common prosperity, openness, inclusiveness, cleanliness and beauty. Its core is “an open, inclusive, clean, and beautiful world that enjoys lasting peace, universal security, and common prosperity.” An in-depth study of the thought of a community with a shared future for mankind shows that it contains the concept of ecological protection and mutual learning.

2.1. Ecological Protection Concept in the Thought of a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind

Ecological progress is very important to the human survival and development, and building a beautiful world is the shared aspiration of the peoples of all countries. Western developed countries developed very rapidly during the Industrial Revolution, but they also caused serious ecological and environmental problems. They took pollution first, or even directly untreated, and transferred pollution to developing countries. The damage and impact on the world environment has not been eliminated. The thought of a community with a shared future for mankind indicates “we must take into full consideration the people of all aspiration countries for a better life, their expectation of a sound eco-environment, and their responsibility for future generations, China is pioneering a new approach that synergizes the efforts to protect the environment, develop the economy, generate employment, and eliminate poverty, strives for social equity and justice in the process of green transition, and increases people’s sense of gain, happiness and security.” [2]. Within the framework of the thought of a community with a shared future for mankind, China has actively participated in international cooperation on climate change, promoted the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and implemented a philosophy that development must be innovative, coordinated, green, open and shared. We call on mankind to solve the problems brought about by industrial civilization and take actions to jointly tackle climate change. With the goal of harmonious coexistence of humanity and nature, we should not follow the wrong path of the West, and explore a new path of sustainable development featuring increased output, higher living standards, and healthy ecosystems. To develop the productive forces, we must adhere to the truth of improving the ecological environment, abandon the development model that destroys the ecological environment, and sacrifice the environment for no good results of development. We need to follow the general direction of the contemporary scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation, seize the huge development opportunities brought about by green transition, drive development through innovation, actively promote the transformation and upgrading of the economic, energy and industrial structures, and make a sound ecological environment a pillar of sustainable global economic and social development. We will promote the establishment of a fair and effective global mechanism for addressing climate change, build an ecosystem that respects nature and green development, protect the earth on which mankind lives, so that our future generations can enjoy blue skies, clear water and lush mountains.

2.2. The Concept of Mutual Learning in the Thought of a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind

The diversity of human civilizations is the source for human development and progress, the basic feature of the world. Various civilizations bring about cultural exchanges, including cultural integration, which promotes progress. In the history of thousands of years of human civilization, every country and nation has come to the present through the inheritance and integration of culture. The colorful world we see today is formed by mankind through the exchanges and integration of various civilizations. The correct treatment of the civilization of different countries and nations, and traditional culture and real culture, is a major topic that we must grasp well. In response to this topic, the thought of a community with a shared future for mankind proposes that “promoting exchanges, integration and mutual learning among various civilizations is the only way to make the world more beautiful and people of all countries live a better life.” [3]. We should practice true multilateralism and oppose acts that undermine the international order and create confrontation and division in the name of the so-called “rules”. We need to abide by the concept of win-win cooperation, remove the high barriers that separate trade, investment and technology, and create a prospect of inclusive and inclusive development. We should advocate respect for the diversity of world civilizations, support exchanges, mutual learning against estrangement and superiority of civilizations. We are ought to increase inter-civilization exchanges and dialogue to promote harmony, inclusiveness and respect for differences, develop together through exchanges and mutual learning, learn from each other through competition and comparison, and learn from each other, so that the garden of world civilization is flourishing and full of business.

3. The Significance of Integrating the Thought of a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind into Ideological and Political Theory Courses in Colleges and Universities

The thought of a community with a shared future for mankind is an abandonment of traditional international relations and another major contribution to China’s theory of international relations in the 21st century. It is a vital guideline for realizing the “Chinese Dream” and pursuing the “world dream”. It is a major strategic thought that must be adhered to and implemented in consistently promoted major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics. “Ideological and political courses in colleges and universities should pass on the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind to students timely, applicably and appropriately, so as to foster students’ correct view of interests and the world perspective from the perspective of the overall interests of mankind and the nation.” [4] integrates the concept of ecological protection and mutual learning in a community with a shared future for mankind into ideological and political courses in universities to improve the political literacy of university students, enhance the awareness of environmental protection and cultural inheritance and exchange.

3.1. It Is Conducive to Enhancing the Environmental Protection Awareness of College Students

The ecological environment is a major political issue bearing on the mission and purpose of the CPC, a crucial social issue concerning people’s livelihood, and a significant world issue concerning the future of humanity. As General Secretary Xi has pointed out, “We should protect Nature and preserve the environment like we protect our eyes, and endeavor to foster a new relationship where man and Nature can both prosper and live in harmony.” [2]. The thought of a community with a shared future for mankind holds the harmonious coexistence of humanity and nature, and calls on mankind to join hands to jointly build a beautiful home we have. Large population of college students in our country, ecological protection concept in the thought of a community with a shared future for mankind into the ideological and political theory courses in universities, penetration into all aspects, let college students from the thought of climate change and other global environmental problems have a new understanding, understand the current situation of the global environmental governance, awaken college students’ crisis consciousness of global environmental problems. College students through systematic learning the thought of a community with a shared future for mankind, set up the correct concept of the harmonious coexistence of humanity and nature, to ensure the sustainability of environmental protection education, increase college students’ environmental protection knowledge reserve, enhance the consciousness of college students’ environmental protection, make college students will internalize the ecological protection concept of the thought of a community with a shared future for mankind in mind, externalized in line. To build a resource-conserving and environment-friendly society based on resources and environment carrying capacity, with the laws of nature, sustainable development as the goal, and to cultivate excellent talents, in order to build a clean, beautiful, beautiful world, to foster outstanding builders.

3.2. It Is Conducive to Enhancing College Students’ Awareness of Cultural Exchange and Inheritance

Civilizations have become colorful through exchanges, and civilizations have become increasingly enriched through mutual learning. Every civilization has its own cultural traditions. Only by not forgetting history can it open up the future, and only by being good at inheritance can it be good at innovation. “If college students can understand the colorful people-to-people and cultural exchanges and other communication activities from the height of a community with a shared future for mankind, it will be easier to achieve the effect of people-to-people communication or amity, and also easier to practice the ‘friendly’ values in the core socialist values.” [5] integrates the concept of mutual learning in the thought of a community with a shared future for mankind into the ideological and political courses in universities, which is conducive to enhance college students’ the awareness of cultural inheritance and exchange, and to adopt a learning attitude towards various civilizations created by human beings. In cultural exchanges, we should learn from each other, proceed from the actual conditions of our own nation, learn from each other’s strengths, choose the good ones, emphasize inclusiveness, discard the rough and select the fine, and discard the false and preserve the true. In the process of integration, college students can deeply think about the significance of inheriting and carrying forward traditional culture, and treat traditional culture scientifically. When learning and applying the traditional culture, college students are required to adhere to the ancient for the middle use, bring forth the new, and combine the new practice and the requirements of The Times to make the correct value choice. Insist on the ancient for the middle, to learn from the present, to discriminate, to discard the inheritance, and to establish a correct view of cultural exchange and cultural inheritance.

4. Countermeasures to Integrate the Thought of a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind into Ideological and Political Theory Courses in Colleges and Universities

Marx once said that “theory also becomes a material force as soon as it has gripped the masses. Theory is persuasion, can master the masses; while theory is thorough, can persuade people.” [6]. Marx emphasized the use of thorough theory to “persuade the masses” and “master the masses”, which actually is to emphasize instillation. Integrating the thought of a community with a shared future for mankind into ideological and political courses in universities, the current problem to be solved is relying on the platform of ideological and political courses in universities to instill the thought of a community with a shared future for mankind to student. In instillation, we should not only pay attention to the education of educators, ignore the learning and thinking of the educated, but also fully mobilize the enthusiasm and initiative of the educated, and give play to the permeable education function of environmental, media, cultural and interpersonal relations. Therefore, we must make efforts in three ways, to deepen teachers’ understanding the thought of a community with a shared future for mankind and comprehensively use a variety of carriers in teaching.

4.1. Deepen Teachers’ Understanding of the Thought of a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind

“To realize the deep integration of the thought of a community with a shared future for mankind and ideological-political education, we must work hard on ‘reality’ and only have value based on reality.” [7] to strengthen teachers’ understanding of the thought of a community with a shared future for mankind, promote this thought into ideological and political theory courses in colleges and universities, let it in college courses grow roots, flowers, fruit, to do the following aspects: first of all, around President Xi has made a series of discourses on “the thought of a community with a shared future for mankind.” regularly related teachers collective preparation activities, teaching discussion of the thought of a community with a shared future for mankind, teachers share education teaching experience, promote each other. Secondly, actively carry forward expert lectures on the thought of a community with a shared future for mankind. This form of education is highly targeted and targeted, and can integrate the content of the thought of a community with a shared future for mankind. The way of expert lectures and training is conducive to systematically and completely deepening teachers’ understanding of the thought, improving the quality of teaching, and effectively enhancing the pertinence of ideological and political theory courses. Thirdly, in order to enhance teacher’ overall grasp of the thought of a community with a shared future for mankind, teachers should closely connect with the current politics, flexibly grasp the domestic and international situation through various information media carriers, so as to support for the integration of the thought of a community with a shared future for mankind into the ideological and political courses in universities, provide strong examples and enhance the persuasion.

4.2. In Teaching, Various Carriers Are Comprehensively Used to Carry out the Ideological Education of the Thought of a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind

“For generations of youths in the new era, who grow up in the new media environment are deeply influenced by the Internet, so they need to use new media to produce some high-quality courses popular with college students, and students can watch them anytime and anywhere, so that the thought of a community with a shared future for mankind can truly react in students’ minds.” [7]. Through the comprehensive use of various educational carriers, ensures the pertinence of theoretical education in a community with a shared future for mankind. Today’s world is undergoing major development, adjustment and transformation. The complexity and variability of the environment are constantly increasing. These complex factors will influence the effect, which integrates the thought of a community with a shared future for mankind into ideological and political courses in colleges and universities. Only by the comprehensive use of various carriers can an effective educational resultant force be formed. For instance, “Internet Plus” is simply called the “Internet plus Traditional Industry”. With the development of science and technology, the use of information and Internet platform integrates the Internet with traditional industries, and makes use of the advantages and characteristics of the Internet to create new development opportunities. Through its own advantages, the “Internet Plus” optimizes, upgrades and transforms traditional industries, so that traditional industries can adapt to the current new development, and finally promote the continuous development of the society. Relying on the “Internet Plus” education Model, it can fully ensure The Times and timeliness of education and teaching. The “Internet Plus” education model promotes the improvement of teaching efficiency through big data, breaks the restrictions of regional teaching resources, helps each student to find their own learning methods, realization of “Teaching Students according to Their Aptitude”. The “Internet Plus” education model is used to update the educational content, reform the educational methods, change the educational concept, and bring new development opportunities for the integration of the thought of a community with a shared future for mankind into the ideological and political courses in universities. Before applying the carrier, we must carefully study the characteristics of the educational object and the educational content, and choose a variety of carriers scientifically. Adjust the carriers in time according to different educational situations, and employ educational carriers. Pay attention to coordinate a variety of ideological-political education carriers, so that their choice and configuration to achieve the optimal educational effect.

4.3. Carry out Ideological Education on a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind in Practical Activities

In order to truly integrate the thought of a community with a shared future for mankind into ideological and political courses in colleges and universities, we must pay attention to the unity of theory and practice, the combination of theoretical instillation and practical exercise. We should not only integrate the thought of a community with a shared future for mankind into students’ thinking, but also implement it into practical activities. College students could actively practice in ecological environment protection, socialist modernization country construction and “the Belt and Road Initiative” construction, and learn from doing. For example, we can actively carry out practical activities of ecological environment protection, and organize students to publicize ecological and environmental protection, lecture the thought of a community of shared future for mankind, and conduct ecological protection debate based on the theoretical knowledge they have learned. Or with college students community volunteer service activities, activity on three kinds of going to the countryside, make the students in cleaning, rescuing wildlife, lecturing knowledge, understand the thought connotation of a community with a shared future for mankind, correctly treat the natural environment, in the future study of life to promote harmonious coexistence of humanity and nature. In terms of the understanding of mankind, nation, country and the world, we can actively organize students to participate in the COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control volunteering, so that students can deeply learn and understand the knowledge or policies about the epidemic prevention and control. Help students to deeply understand the close connection between human beings, nation, country and the world, and assist students cultivate the right worldview, outlook on life, and values. Practice exercises the thought, practice exercises the mind, promotes the students to internalize the thought of a community with a shared future for mankind in their hearts and externalize it in the practice in the ideological and political courses that unify the theory and the practice.

5. Conclusion

The thought of a community with a shared future for mankind is the essence of Xi’s Thought on Foreign Affair and the most distinctive feature of major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics. It is of great significance for mankind to join hands to tackle global issues such as COVID-19 and growing global warming. If the thought of a community with a shared future for mankind is integrated into ideological and political courses in colleges and universities, and if teachers can effectively deepen their understanding of the thought of a community with a shared future for mankind, it will effectively guide and influence students, so that the idea will be deeply rooted in people’s hearts. The limitation of this study is that sort out the series of discourses of President Xi on “the thought of a community with a shared future for mankind.” is not comprehensive enough, and the significance and countermeasures of its integration into ideological and political courses in universities are not deep enough. It is necessary to strengthen the context of the discussion, and pay attention to the grasp of theoretical logic, and the practical logic of the thought of community with a shared future for mankind into ideological and political courses in colleges and universities. This still needs to be improved and perfected in future research.
