  ABSTRACT: This research focuses on the library of Xinjiang Institute of Engineering. Through in-depth offline paper-based book questionnaires, it comprehensively analyzes the reading demands of students, and then provides scientific basis and feasible strategies for the optimization of the library’s collection construction. The research finds that the reading demands of students are diverse, covering multiple fields such as social sciences and natural sciences. Based on this, the library should start from precise procurement, facility improvement, and other aspects to continuously improve service quality and meet the growing reading demands of students.
