ABSTRACT: Carrying forward the spirit of Chinese aesthetic education and continuously strengthening and improving the aesthetic education is one of the important tasks of universities. The university library is not only the cultural position of the university, but also an important place for the university to educate students with the aesthetics and culture, and to improve students’ aesthetic and humanistic accomplishments. In order to give full play to the function of aesthetic education, Beijing University of Chemical Technology Library has intensively optimized the three aspects of “resources”, “carriers” and “environment”, forming a set of effective practices. The specific methods are as follows: first, on the “resources”, systematically stocking classics that can reflect the spirit of Chinese aesthetic education, providing a document basis for schools to educate people on aesthetics; second, on the “carriers”, keeping abreast of the pulse of the times, continuing the “Red Gene”, focusing on promoting the spirit of Chinese aesthetic education, and improving the aesthetic quality of teachers and students; third, in the “aesthetic education environment”, by adjusting the spatial layout and beautifying the reading “environment”, in a subtle way, to achieve the purpose of “beautifying people”.
