ABSTRACT: This paper explores the impact of retirement on individual’s residency model based on the data from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS) of 2013 and 2015. The results show that retirement significantly reduces the probability of individual’s sharing co-residence with their children, and the male individuals are more affected. China has entered an aging society, the welfare of the elderly has received widespread attention, and children should pay more attention to the elderly so that they can live happily in their old age.
