ABSTRACT: Watta satta marriage is due to several reasons as like social, cultural and economic. Watta satta marriages subsist in rural areas of Southern Punjab Pakistan. Such marriages are usually com-promised marriages and this issue demands investigation to explore the main reasons of this custom and related problems created by it. The researchers recognized the causes of watta satta and certain strategies to control it. The sample of present study consists of all married males and females from Southern Punjab Pakistan. Researchers also investigated that illiteracy and poverty are the major causes. The Chi-Square test was applied to see the correlation and the result showed significant and direct relationship between variables.
