ABSTRACT

A saying often quoted in stylistics in academia is that what the author says is unimportant, but what matters is how to say it. In the same way, in translation teaching, we often say: what is translated is not essential; what is more important is how you translate it. Undoubtedly, the translator can gain insight into the textual secrets and cultural factors in translating and understand the original text better for a better translation. This article does some translation analysis of different versions of a spiritual text translated by the authors in Thanks Translation Workshop in terms of the machine translation, pre-translation editing, post-translation editing, student’s initial translation, teacher finalization and other translation comparison and analysis, and detailed re-translation, which can be reviewed as a valuable reference for beginners in the translation studies.
