Prof. Leonid P Titov

Dr. Leonid P Titov graduated at Minsk State Medical Institute (Belarus) in 1975. In 1988, he became a head of the department of microbiology, virology and immunology. Since 1995 up to 2009, he was a director of the Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology. Leonid Titov is corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Honored Scientist of Belarus, Academician of the Russian Academy of Science, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Head Laboratory of the Clinical and Experimental Microbiology.
Dr. L.P. Titov’s long-term scientific studies has been devoted to biology, molecular epidemiology and evolution of bacteria, natural immunity, allergy and autoimmunity, the effects of ionizing radiation due to Chernobyl accident. Since 2009, he has been investigated dendritic cells function, gene expression, pathogens typing, antimicrobial resistance. In 2003, he was elected as Honorary Professor of the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, member of the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, member of the European Scientific Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases. He published 3 monographs, more than 1000 articles and abstracts, 20 methodological recommendations, held 31 patent, and was an advisor for 10 post-doctoral degree and 39 PhD fellows. As a member of editorial board, he participates in many national and international scientific journals.
For achievements in the science, he was awarded by the National State Prize, by Medal "For Valorous Labor" (1971), by Honorary Diploma of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Belarus (1996). In 2015, he was expressed gratitude of the President of the Republic of Belarus. In 2016 for the fight against infectious diseases, he was awarded the Order of Honor, as well as the Honorary Diploma of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Honorary Diploma of the Ministry of Health.
