ABSTRACT

Wang Guowei is the founder of external Ci system in the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China. His Ci-style Oriented thought, based on the western literary theory, fits the contexts of intersection of ancient and modern Chinese and western culture in the 20th century, colliding with the internal Ci system and resonating with external Ci system. In the collision and blending of ideas, Wang’s thought promoted the modernization process of the Ci.
