Special Issue on Emotion, Cognition, and Behavior
Emotion
is any conscious experience characterized by intense mental activity and a
certain degree of pleasure or displeasure. Emotion is often intertwined with
mood, temperament, personality, disposition, and motivation. Cognition
encompasses processes such as attention, the formation of knowledge, memory and
working memory, judgment and evaluation, reasoning and "computation",
problem solving and decision making, comprehension and production of language.
Human behavior is the responses of individuals or groups of humans to internal
and external stimuli. In addition to being dictated by age and genetics,
behavior, driven in part by thoughts and feelings, is an insight into
individual psyche, revealing among other things attitudes and values. Emotion,
cognition and behavior are interdependent, exerting a powerful influence on
each other.
