ABSTRACT: Ki67 is a marker of cell proliferation that is expressed in the S, G2 and
M phases but not in the G0 phase of the cell cycle. Several recent studies
showed that the expression of Ki67 is closely related to the occurrence and
development of gastrointestinal tumours. The Ki67 index is closely related to
the degree of differentiation, invasion, metastasis and prognosis of
gastrointestinal tumours. This review describes the relationship between the
Ki67 index and degree of malignancy, therapeutic effect and prognosis of
gastrointestinal tumours.
