ABSTRACT: This paper analyzed the effects of earlier
childbearing on the population. Earlier childbearing results in the increase in
the total fertility rate due to several effects, the tempo effect, baby boom
effect, and echo effect. Moreover, the population can increase as many
generations live in the same period. In this paper, I proposed to increase the
total population by changing the childbearing behavior, which is to bring the
age at childbearing forward to younger age. Although the total population is
still declining in the long run, the earlier childbearing behavior slows down
the speed of declining population.
