Abstract: |
Proir research mainly focused on the economic and social impacts of nation-level basic research and their formation process. Little work has been done on the consequence of regional basic research. In particular, research on the mechamism though which regional basic research affects economic and social development is lacking. Building upon theoretical discussions, the paper proposes a process model illustrating the underlying mechnisiam by which regional basic research drive local economic and social development. In addition, the paper adopts qualitative and case study methods to validate the process model, taking Zhejiang natural science fund as an example.
