Abstract: |
Prior research focus on economic and social influence of nation-level basic research, less work has been done on the effects of regional basic research. While local governments increase their investment in basic research, regional basic research is playing increasely critical role in China. In order to access the performance of these investments, it’s necessary to examine the multiple social and economic effects by regional basic research. Taking Zhejiang natural science foundation fund as an example, the paper clarifies the demensions of social and economic effects of regional basic research and illustrates the concrect effects, employing qualitative and case study methods. The paper contributes to theory and practice by proposing a framework and a real case to investigate multiple effects of regional basic research.
