Abstract: This paper estimates carbon emissions from 1995 to 2008 in Zhejiang province based on the twelve kinds of energy consumption data of the three main industries and residential sector. This paper adopts the method of Logarithmic Mean Divisia Index(LMDI), builds the decomposition model of carbon emissions’ driving factors —energy intensity, structure adjustment, economic development and population size and measures the extent of its impact. The results show that from 1995 to 2008 the carbon emissions present sustaining ascending trend in Zhejiang; the positive effects of economic development and population size are much larger than the negative effects of energy intensity and structure adjustment. On the basis of the measurement results, this paper proposes the development path of low carbon development in Zhejiang.
