Source of drinking water safety is the core of rural drinking water safety, sound laws and regulations system for protection of water sources is the cornerstone of water sources safety. Currently laws and regulations system for protection of drinking water source in our country mainly includes legal system such as water law and law of the prevention and control of water pollution; regulations system such as regulations on water supply; rules and related documents such as notice on strengthening rural environmental protection. China has a relatively complete legal system to protect drinking water sources, but there are some flaws, such as laws and regulations conflicting with each other, articles of law related to water conservation scattered relatively, urban concentrated drinking water source protection attached great importance to, neglect of rural drinking water source protection, particularly distributed water source. In the process of modification and legislation of laws and regulations involved in water conservation in the future, the legislature should strengthen the coordination among laws and regulations, in particular, it is very important for increasing the content to be suitable for rural drinking water source protection.
