Abstract: |
Objective: to analyse the supply of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) service in Township Health Center (THC) in Henan Province; Method: Totally 2045 THCs were surveyed with the uniformed questionnaire in 2009. Results: 89.54% of theTHC were owned by the government and the enterprise; the rate of the THC medical staff with two-year medical education or three-year medical education was 88.18%; the TCM licensed Doctor and mediastinus in the THC was 23.16%5 of THC licensed Doctor and mediastinus; the area of the TCM department of the THC was 4.11% of the building area of the THC; the value of the TCM equipment of the THC was 1.59% of the total equipment value of the THC; each THC could not be allocated one for every kind of equipment among 4 kinds of investigated TCM equipment; the TCM outpatients and emergency visits of the THC was 9.25% of the outpatients and emergency visits of the THC, and the TCM medical treatment income of the THC was only 6.34% of total THC medical treatment income; the TCM prescription of the THC was 29.40% of total THC prescription, but the TCM drug income of the THC was only 10.64% of total THC drug income. Conclusion: The THC was mainly owned by the government and the enterprise; the rate of the TCM staff was not high; the majority of the doctor in the THC received two or three-year medical education, their medical educational level was low; the rate of the TCM department area, equipment value and TCM equipment allocation were all low in the THC; but TCM still had the advantage in supply of the convenient and cheap service. Recommendations: There is a need to make the management policy adpating to the situation of the THC of Henan Province, to promote the level of the medical education of the THC staff, and to strengthen the hardware construction of the TCM facilities and equipment in order to make the TCM play an active role in the supply of the convenient and cheap health service in the THC.
