Title: Comparative Analysis on the Influential Factors of the Service Industry Development in China ——Based on Panel Data of Eastern and Western Regions

Abstract: This paper studied the influential factors involving service industry development in China eastern and western regions by using panel data from 2005 to 2009. Our results demonstrated that the economic development level significantly promoted service industry development in eastern and western regions; urbanization level clearly promoted service industry development in eastern regions, but insignificantly effects in western regions. FDI obviously promoted service industry development in western regions, but a weak effect in eastern regions; Final consumption demand had insignificantly positive effect in eastern regions, but negative effect in western regions. Industrialization level had crowding-out effects on service industry in both regions; Marketization level had insignificantly positive effect in eastern regions, while negative effect in western regions.
