Abstract: The reserve of low-permeability oilfields covers a large proportion of the total. As a result of the poor physical properties and complicated percolation mechanism, its exploitation is technically demanding, thus the output per well and recovery efficiency is still very low. Based on literature research, this paper summarizes the principle and effect of increasing yield with the help of exploitation methods for low-permeability oilfields at home and abroad under the current technical conditions, and it also make a comparison and analysis on these methods. From the results of investigation, it is can be seen that the low-permeability oilfields at home and abroad have not been confined to the traditional exploitation methods such as water flooding, acidification, fracturing and so on, while a lot of efforts have been made to seek for improved technologies which are applicable to various oilfields accordingly, the development direction lies in physical, chemical and microbial methods with high efficiency but no pollution.
