Abstract: By means of Factor Analysis and Cluster Analysis, based on the data collected from a questionnaire in Ankang, 1085 sample households are classified into two classes---households of strong ecological consciousness and those of the weak, then we compare and analyse their differences in livelihood. The result is as follows: households of strong ecological consciousness have more agricultural capital while those of the weak more social capital. In terms of living strategy, households of strong ecological consciousness are higher in income, consumption and expenditure for children to receive education, stronger in agricultural dependence but lower in environmental damage. As a result, households of strong ecological consciousness actively respond to the policy, obtaining more concessions and making less environment deterioration. In short, households of strong ecological consciousness pay more attention to the agricultural development and the education of their children, more active in responding to the policy and contributive in environmental protection.
