Abstract: For its efficient and integrative capabilities, the importance in usage of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system has increased manifold in dynamic business environment of today. The purpose of this study is to provide an overview of ERP system’s implementation success by qualitatively examining the relationship of the proposed Critical Success Factors (CSFs) and to measure the project completion success in terms of organizational impact, on time and on/under estimated budget by using multiple case studies approach. Ten propositions are developed based on the identified CSFs from the literature which are subsequently tested in the case studies prepared in this research. Findings confirm that 5, 3 and 2 out of the 10 proposed factors are critical, least critical and not critical respectively. This research is unique in nature in a sense that it examines whether the CSFs proposed in the management literature are practically catered for while implementing ERP projects for management of the enterprises in Pakistan. This study will help to better understand the most relevant and tested factors to avoid the chances of failure and thus would contribute to the existing body of knowledge regarding ERP project implementation success.
