Abstract: Chinese commercial banks have made great achievements since its reformation and opening, and how to evaluate their operation performance in recent years, especially after their joint-stock reformation is a key issue in appraising the effect of their reform. Referring to the idea of balanced scorecard, our research setup a composite value-creation capacity index, which covered the profit, security, liquidity, scale, management capability and the long term viability. Based upon this index, we assessed 12 commercial banks’ performance since 2000 and made preliminary analysis about the impact of the joint-stock reformation.
