Abstract: Salt-pepper noise is produced at the processes of collection and transmission of digital image. Tra- ditional filtering algorithm can not remove the noise effectively in the high noisy rate. This paper presents an self-adaptive algorithm to determine the first noise points, and then taken gradient filter method to process the mild polluted image, use the median filter to process moderate polluted image, and heavily polluted image take into account self-adaptive algorithm based on histogram information with weighted average filter wave. No need to set parameters when filtering, with high self-adaptive ability. Simulation results show that this al- gorithm is better than other algorithms at filtering salt-pepper noise and preserving the detail of image. And the restoring effect of image is good under high noisy rate.
