Abstract: The paper emphasizes on coding method of the barcode EAN-13 and barcode UPC-A. By method of the similar edges distance normalized, decoding method of the barcode EAN-13 and barcode UPC-A are interpreted. Also it simply introduced the differentiation of bar code character, the discrimina- tion of code-scale and the scanning direction and the data checkout of bar code. Through the simulation experiment it achieves an ideal effect, and greatly enhances barcode recognition speed and bits error rate through several times simulation test.
