Abstract: Peer-to-Peer (P2P) dominates the way that large files are shared over the Internet today. A measurement study on the user behavior during the P2P file sharing is important and helpful to better understand and improve the P2P networks. It is widely used to collect information about peers and connections in file sharing at the BitTorrent client side continuously. In this paper, we use our re-programmed efficient Vuze logging system and some part of functions in Java Bittorrent API to send HTTP request to the tracker server to get communication information directly. To avoid huge log files being generated every day from different servers, we make the balance of the value of interval to compress the log file without loss much information. The advantage of our customer client is that we can collect much more logs with each log significantly reduced size. It is useful for the researches on large file distribution behavior analysis in Peer to Peer Networks.
