Abstract: This paper firstly introduces some famous multiple pattern matching algorithms and puts emphasis on the basic idea and the implementation principle of the Wu-Manber algorithm. An improvement to the Wu-Manber algorithm is provided to solve the shortcomings of Wu-Manber algorithm. Experimental result shows this algorithm can effectively expedite the speed of pattern matching compared to the traditional methods， mi proves the efficiency of the intrusion detection.
