Abstract: In order to reduce the traffic accidents and enhance the whole safety of urban road traffic, man, machine, environment in urban road traffic system and the three elements’ impacts on traffic safety are analysed. The analysis is on the foundation of man-machine-environment system engineering theory and viewpoints of system science. The reasons of the human errors and the environmental factors in traffic safety were in-depth studied. Based on the theory of co-ordination system, the coordination of man, machine, environment is studied. And the coordination model is set up. The coordination model can widely be used not only in cities but also in small towns in China.
