Abstract: The relative stimulus theory of human body system is represented. A stimulus source acts on the human body system by a relative stimulus. The concepts of zero stimulus, positive stimulus and negative stimulus are proposed. A large numbers of examples on relative stimulus, especially relative negative stimulus, are given. The relative stimulus effect of an absolute zero stimulus, the opposite stimulus effect of the same stimulus, and the same stimulus effect of different stimuli are introduced. The reference point of a stimulus is a very important concept in the relative stimulus theory. It is the standard to determine the strength and the category of a relative stimulus, and reveals the nature of relative stimulus. The applications of relative stimulus theory in the fields of physiology, psychology and pedagogy are discussed.
