Abstract: Abstract: As rapid developments of technologies, patents showed its greater importance than before. The trend of patent applications was regarded as the leading indicator of forecasting the future both in industry and technology. The one who figured out the information from patent applications would get advantages than his competitors. In this research, the LED lighting technology which was highly focused in mainland China was forecasted by US granted patents. The turning point of growth curve was forecasted to be 3,500 patents in 2018 by the growth curve model for long-term forecasting. The patents of following three years also showed the increasing trend by grey theory model for short-term forecasting.
