Abstract: Abstract: Welding quality inspection system has been an important part in welding automation technology. Seam width, which is one of the most important items in evaluation of welding quality, is used to evaluate whether the welding quality is good or not. The technology of image processing has been a main research part in the welding inspection system based on machine vision. On the research of the characteristics of same thickness tailored blanks laser welding, this paper designs a method for seam edge detection of same thickness tailored blanks laser welding. The method includes image preprocessing, morphological erosion and dilation, canny edge detection and seam boundary tracking. The experiment results illustrated that the method was suitable for seam edge detection of same thickness tailored blanks laser welding.
