Abstract: A well-known and promising concept, energy management contracting (EMC), was introduced in details and the modes of EMC in building energy conservation were analyzed. From three aspects of policy, capital and technology, the main obstacles were discussed, and corresponding countermeasures were proposed. The results show that EMC is a win-win choice to both customers and energy service company (ESCo), and EMC will be widely applied in building energy conservation in the next future. At present, the development of ESCo is incomplete and needs the government supporting and the relative corporations working together to improve technical level in building energy conversation.
