Abstract: Abstract: Forest plays an important role in global climate change and carbon storage. The authors found that forest carbon storage in China appears to rise in volatility, based on the analysis of forest inventory data from 1973 to 2003, and forest carbon storage of 31 provinces in China in the past 30 years by methodology of biomass expansion factor (BEF) in this paper. Through the compare of dynamic changes of forest carbon storage in 31 provinces, authors found the descending order of various provinces or cities in seven regions in China, which are South-west, North-east, North China, South China, Central China, North-west and East China. The conclusions provide scientific basis for evaluating regional distribution pattern of forest carbon storage and is helpful to realize sustainable development in China.
