Abstract: In this paper, an enhanced power saving MAC protocol (EPSM) for IEEE802.11 ad hoc networks is proposed. IEEE802.11 power management scheme for an ad hoc network is based on the CSMA/CA access procedure to transmit/receive their data frames, and set the size of ATIM window. It wastes much additional power, the proposed protocol removes ATIM window and determined the sequence of pending packets. Simulation results show that our protocol attains the better energy efficiency as well as life time than existing protocols.
