Abstract: On the basis of the analysis of polarimetric imaging detection theory, the effect of intensity images of CCD on polarization degree detection was researched in this paper. The result indicates that acquisition of intensity images would have a direct effect on the polarimetric images in the subsequence process. Polarimetric detection needs three intensity images in different polarization orientations. Light intensity distribution in different orientations may be different widely, which results in the difference of light exposure in three orientations. Intensity images are distorted on the condition of either underexposure or overexposure, which causes large error between the measurement of light intensity and the image gray value. Therefore, the sequential polarization degree obtained from these intensity images have a large error, which results in the sham polarization degree of the object surface. The corresponding countermeasures are given against the problem.
