Abstract: An image encryption algorithm by scrambling the pixel location with sudoku grids matrix is proposed in this paper. In this algorithm, Sudoku grids matrix which is constituted of row, line and block is adopts as secret key. Between the Natural order and the numeric order in the row, line or block, there is a certain mapping mode according to which the image pixel is scramble. The algorithm is suitable for image with any size. The simulation experiments show that it has good encryption efficiency and perfect encryption effect. Fine scrambling effect can be reached by taking only 7 time’s iteration. Also the transferring effect such as pixels dropping, dirty or error can be distributed equally by the algorithm which has high robustness, and good restoration result is produced.
