Abstract: In order to reduce the influence of gravity and temperature loads on the surface figure accuracy of large aperture primary mirror in a space camera, the design issues for space mirror such as choice of materials, support form, number and location of the support points, light-weighting structure and flexible support of the mirror and so on are discussed. A new design with opened back, triangular hole light-weighting and three points ball hinge support on the back is proposed in this paper. By adopting computer aided engineering (CAE) software, the dynamic and static stiffness as well as thermal character of the primary mirror system were analyzed. The analytical results indicate that the surface figure accuracy reach to ? /10 PV , ? /50 RMS(? ? 632.8nm)under gravity and 5℃ uniform temperature change, the first order frequency of the primary mirror component is 291 Hz , which can meet the requirements of space application.
