Abstract: To study the transfer characteristics of a system, the most commonly method is to measure phase-frequency and amplitude-frequency characteristics of its transfer function. It is easy to obtain amplitude- frequency characteristics, but the measure and analysis of the phase-frequency characteristics is much more difficult. However, the phase information is necessary when evaluates the impulse characteristics of a system using results of frequency measurement. For a minimum phase system, the method of impulse and step response reconstruction using amplitude and phase information is presented in this paper, where the phase information is estimated from amplitude-frequency characteristics based on Hilbert transform. The paper also gives a kind of realization of the method using virtual instrument based on Labview platform, and the validity of the method is verified by means of a practical application finally.
