Abstract: The urbanization issues are mostly related to geographic spatial location, but traditional research methods are mainly limited in academic studies and qualitative analysis. Geographic information technology can directly express the abstract urban phenomena and their relations in visual manners, describe the spatial status and transition process with digital information, and discover the internal laws of urban development from many data analysis. China is now during the rapid industrialization and urbanization period, which demands GIS industry to pay more attention to urban construction and social-economic development and environment issues, build regional spatial data infrastructure, develop integrated technology system, offer open application environment, and provide decision-making support for solving urbanization problems.
