As an important new material, photonic crystals has special characteristic of controlling photon transmitting state. It can be used to make fire-new concept and unmade high performance optics devices, as a result, it has been regarded as one of the most potential materials, and has been applied widely because of it’s special Photonic Band gap (PBG). This paper introduced basic concept and characteristics, and transmission mechanism of photonic crystal, and expatiated it’s application in light communication, microwave and pressure transducer mainly. Also brought forward it’s development trend of research.
