Abstract: The stresses and strains on FBG and nickel electroplating layer in axial and cross directions were analyzed in detail. Because there are different material parameters between fiber bragg grating(FBG) and electroplated layer, after FBG was nickel electroprotected, there would generate stresses on FBG and electroplating layer in axial and cross directions when temperature changed. The generated stresses would influence the sensing properties of FBG. It is important to analyze the stress and strain of nickel electroless plated FBG for further studying the sensing properties of FBG and the influence to nickel electroplated layer.
