Abstract: In order to investigate the dynamic behaviors of vertical-axis wind turbines (VAWT) under the rotation, the three-dimensional (3D) model of a VAWT is constructed using the rotor dynamics and ANSYS code in the case of including the rotation and wind loads into consideration. Some useful suggestions are proposed through numerically studying the natural frequencies, mode shapes, critical rotary speed, along with the maximum dynamic displacements in three critical positions of the current vertical-axis under the rotation, thus giving the guidelines for designing better VAWT.
