Abstract: Rotor bar breaking is one frequent fault of induction motor. The actual operating conditions of motors must be taking account in detecting rotor bar breaking fault on-line. Wavelet packet Analysis is one of the effective means to process the non-stationary signal. The spectrum of Hilbert modulus has a certain robustness in signal processing even taking into account the quality of power supply and the load fluctuation of the induction motors. Based on theoretical analysis, simulation and experimental, the paper presents a new on-line detection scheme that combines the wavelet packet decomposition and Hilbert modulus frequency spectrum analysis.
