Abstract: For suppressing sea clutter spread, reducing ionosphere infection to radar echo, 5 radar parameters were concerned. They were pulse repetition frequency, radar operating frequency, coherent integrating time, antenna array and signal bandwidth. By utilizing data processing of HF sky-wave radar, using CFAR technique as a detection decision, inspection algorithm was designed. Using this program to detect a large number of measured data obtained through large area surveillance with HF sky-wave radar, selecting the decision threshold of 0.2, 0.15 respectively; the detected were determined only false alarm by relevant knowledge. Reselecting the threshold of 0.1, a moving target was successfully detected and its velocity calculated. Results show that inspection algorithm can complete ship detection from large number of measured data rapidly, CFAR is feasible, HF sky-wave radar has actual effect for ship detection.
