Abstract: The CAN bus is adopted to connection with the master collector according to the regulations of the second generation automatic weather station. The part-collector of ground temperature is designed with CAN bus in this paper, which is successfully used CAN bus in the second generation automatic weather station system. The collector takes micro-controller AT90CAN128 as the core and realizes to measure ground temperature by 12-channel platinum resistances. The measurement results are transmitted through CAN bus, that is completed with the CAN controller of AT90CAN128 and the CANOPEN software protocol stacks. Through more than one year of the station assessment, the experimental results show that the data communication is reliable, accurate and completely satisfied the requirement of the second generation automatic weather station.
