Abstract: In the existing technology, once Radio Resource Control connection reconfiguration failed, E-UTRAN (Evolved Universal Terrestrial Radio Access Network) initiates the process of Radio Resource Control connection reestablishment to resume Radio Resource Control connection. Thus, it becomes contrary to the intention of Radio Resource Control connection reconfiguration of network. Based on the problems caused by processing of Radio Resource Control connection reconfiguration failure, this paper puts forward an approach by maintaining the configuration prior to the process of Radio Resource Control reconfiguration failure, and setting the reconfiguration failure value according to the specific cause that lead to Radio Resource Control reconfiguration failure in the User Equipment side. While the E-UTRAN receives the message of Radio Resource Control Connection Reestablishment Request, it can judge the failure cause value to decide the corresponding following action. Therefore, it can not only improve the existing technology but also reduces the complexity of Radio Resource Control connection reconfiguration implementation.
