Innovation is the heart of a company, it is the determinant factor for a company’s success. As a new paradigm of innovation, open innovation has been frequently researched since it was first raised by Henry Chesbrough. Researchers pay much attention to talk about the benefit of open innovation, and devote great effort to research how to implement this kind of innovation paradigm in firms more efficiently, but little research has been conducted about the negative aspects of open innovation. This paper explores the possible negative effect of open innovation on firms R&D department which may be ignored by researchers. What’s more, it is a proposal.
