Abstract: During the implementation of construction projects in China, the project owners sometimes choose partners from the potential candidates that have had basic trust with them. However, the way of treating the relationship between trust and control is the key factors of the project performance. This paper systematically reviews the latest development of the research literature relating to trust and control in construction projects, analyzes the influence routes of owners’ trust, control and contractors’ trust on project performance, and constructs a conceptual structure equation model (SEM), which lays the foundation for further empirical studies.
