Abstract: Credit risk is one of the primary risks for commercial banks in China. The paper used Z-score model originated by Altman to evaluate the credit risk of China’s public companies. It is concluded that Z-score model is a very effective instrument for commercial banks in China to evaluate the credit risk of Chinese companies. Suggestions on how to use Z-score in credit risk management made for commercial banks in China.
