Improved Patent Quality of Strategy Choice ()
ABSTRACT
In an open economy, an appropriate patent system is
capable of improving the quality of patents. The behavior of governments,
enterprises, university research organizations, and intermediary agencies as
innovation subjects may also affect patent
quality. This work verifies consumers’ choice under improved patent
quality in terms of patent utilization or purchasers. A model is established on
the basis of several variables, including residents’ income, patented product
price, patented product categories, and complaint rate. The influencing factors
that may improve patent quality are also analyzed. Findings show that a product
with a considerable number of patents tends to exhibit good quality, but the
quality improvement of a highly over-priced patented product may be hindered.
Innovation subjects should strengthen the protection of intellectual property
rights by improving patent quality.
