Special Issue on Oxidative Stress and Antioxidant Defense

Oxidative Stress reflects an imbalance between the systemic manifestation of reactive oxygen species and a biological system's ability to readily detoxify the reactive intermediates or to repair the resulting damage. Disturbances in the normal redox state of cells can cause toxic effects through the production of peroxides and free radicals that damage all components of the cell, including proteins, lipids, and DNA.

In this special issue, we intend to invite front-line researchers and authors to submit original researches and review articles on exploring oxidative stress and antioxidant defense. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

• Oxidative stress and oxygen
• Antioxidant compounds
• Antioxidant enzymes and proteins
• Direct repair systems
• Degradation and replacement of oxidized protein
• Degradation and replacement/repair of oxidized membrane lipids
• Repair of oxidized DNA
• Adaptive responses and inducible defenses
• Apoptosis

Authors should read over the journal’s Authors’ Guidelines carefully before submission. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal at Paper Submission System.
